Update: Two children among 12 injured in crash on I-12 near Satsuma

LIVINGSTON — At least two children are among 12 injured in a crash involving a transit van on I-12 near the Satsuma Rd. exit Thursday, officials tell UWK.

The van crashed on I-12 eastbound shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday. Five of the 12 injured were transported in critical condition, and officials say two children are among the patients listed as critical. They were taken to Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital. The other patients were taken to OLOL and Ochsner Health Center.

This stretch of I-12 has had a number of accidents over the past several months. There’s no word on what caused the crash. Traffic was backed up for several miles following the crash, but I-12 has since reopened.
