BATON ROUGE — On Thursday, a 19th JDC grand jury indicted three juveniles in connection with a double shooting on Wood St. that left a 17-year-old girl dead and injured another person. The juveniles are being tried as adults in this case.
According to the indictment, the three juveniles — Kaine Evans, Floyd Smith, and Kayden Grayer — and Jemile Causey, 19, were indicted on a charge of first-degree murder of E’Myeri Walker and two counts of attempted first-degree murder.
All four remain in jail.

BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge Police have arrested a 19-year-old man and three juveniles in connection with a double shooting on Wood St. earlier this month that left a teen girl dead and another person injured.
On Saturday, Jan. 10, Baton Rouge Police officers responded to a double shooting around 5 p.m. on Wood St., near Hollywood Street. Two people were injured by gunfire. It was just one of four shooting incidents that day.
According to BRPD, 17-year-old E’Myeri Walker died at the scene and a man was transported to a hospital in stable condition. Both Walker and the man were inside a vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence when the shooting occurred, per officials.
With help from the U.S. Marshals Task Force, Special Investigations CIGIC, and the SWAT Team, Baton Rouge Police Homicide detectives arrested four people — one adult and three juveniles — in connection with the fatal shooting.
19-year-old Jemile Causey, 19, along with the three juveniles, were processed and booked.
Charges for Jemile Causey include:
• First Degree Murder
• Two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder
• Illegal Use of a Weapon
• Aggravated Criminal Damage
• Three counts of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile
The three 16-year-old juveniles are all charged with:
• First Degree Murder
• Two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder
• Illegal Use of a Weapon
• Aggravated Criminal Damage
• Illegal Possession of a Firearm by a Juvenile
According to BRPD, Causey is a suspect in the fatal shooting of Kyron Carter Sr., that happened on Oct. 8, 2025, in the 2300 block of Tennessee Street. Homicide detectives believe Carter was shot while sitting under the carport of a residence and was pronounced dead at the scene.
When first responders arrived, they found Carter dead from multiple gunshot wounds all over his body and dozens of shell casings in what appeared to be a targeted hit.
As a result of this investigation, Causey received additional charges related to the October 2025 homicide, including:
• First Degree Murder
• Illegal Use of a Weapon
• Aggravated Criminal Damage
• Obstruction of Justice
On Monday, Jan. 26, the Baton Rouge Fire Department’s investigators took custody of Causey, charging him with simple arson after a vehicle fire on Oct. 8, 2025. The fire occurred in the 5700 block of Robertson Ave and the department was notified close to 5 p.m. of a burning vehicle.
According to Baton Rouge Fire, the fire appeared to be intentionally set, and was started in the passenger area of the vehicle. Nearby security camera footage showed three males exiting the vehicle and one of them threw a rag into the passenger seat before they all fled, per the fire department.
Baton Rouge Fire investigators believe the vehicle is the same one used earlier that day in the shooting on Tennessee Street that left Kyron Carter dead.
These shooting investigations remain ongoing.
