Four South Carolina men charged with targeting Livingston Parish woman, stealing jewelry from her home

ALBANY — The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested four men from South Carolina with extensive criminal histories for allegedly stealing jewelry from the home of a 91-year-old woman in Albany.

According to investigators, on January 9, one of the men knocked on the 91-year-old woman’s door and pretended to know her to gain entry. At that point, a second suspect entered the house with a roll of vinyl flooring.

“One distracted the female while trying to sell her flooring, while the other entered the victim’s bedroom,” Sheriff Jason Ard said. “The suspects stole jewelry. The other two suspects waited in the vehicle.”

The four men are now facing two counts of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling. They’ve been identified as:

  • Patrick Mack, 54
  • Thomas Riley, 62
  • Pete Mack, 34
  • Thomas Mack, 59

A booking photo was not provided due to Act No. 494, which places restrictions on mugshots released to the media for most offenses with exceptions for certain violent crimes.

Ard stated that the men’s alleged scheme “is popular outside of Livingston Parish.”

“LPSO detectives learned they were back in our area and stopped them in Denham Springs after they attempted to con someone else,” said Ard. “Thankfully, our detectives were able to uncover this con targeting some of our most vulnerable citizens. More victims could be out there.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office at (225) 686-2241 x1 or Capital Region Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-STOP (7867).
