Tangipahoa Parish — Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Deputies have captured the fourth and final escapee who broke out of the Tangipahoa Parish Jail earlier this year.
20-year-old Jamarcus Cyprian was taken into custody after being found at a residence in the Hammond Area on Wednesday afternoon.
Cyprian had been on the run since May 16 after he and three other inmates allegedly broke out of the jail.
The TPSO alleges that Avery Guidry, 19, and Travon Johnson, 21, broke a portion of a fence, slid under an outside wall, and climbed two razor-wire fences to escape. Omarion Hookfin and Cyprian allegedly also broke out following the other two.
Cyprian was serving time for armed robbery and weapons charges when he escaped.
TPSO previously faced scrutiny after not alerting the public about the jailbreak until May 26, ten days after the four men had escaped the facility. The incident happened while former Sheriff Daniel Edwards was in office. Current Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Gerald Sticker previously said he wasn’t sure why the escape wasn’t reported to the public sooner.
Details about Cyprian’s arrest and other associated investigations will be provided during a news conference scheduled for Thursday afternoon, TPSO said in a news release.
