LIVINGSTON PARISH — A 55-year-old woman from French Settlement died after a two-vehicle crash on Hwy. 444 in Livingston Parish.
It was just after 5 p.m. on May 27 when Louisiana State Police troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy. 444 at Dutch Lane in the French Settlement area.
Sophia Stutts, 55, of French Settlement, did not survive her injuries.
The investigation so far shows Stutts was driving a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire south on Hwy. 444. She was at a complete stop while trying to make a left turn into a private driveway. At the same time, a 2018 Dodge Ram, that was also southbound on Hwy. 444 behind the Pontiac, crashed into the back of the Pontiac.
Stutts was transported to a hospital with serious injuries, where she later died.
A front-seat passenger in the Pontiac had minor injuries and was also transported to a hospital. The driver of the Dodge had minor injuries and was transported as well. Troopers say everyone was buckled up and as of now, they do not suspect impairment, but routine toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis.
