Fugitive arrested in Franklin Parish following standoff in Brusly Tuesday night

BRUSLY– According to the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office, a fugitive wanted in Monroe for second-degree murder was arrested by the Franklin Parish Sheriff’s Office Wednesday afternoon.

The arrest came less than a day after Franklin was involved in a standoff with law enforcement in Brusly.

Officials say WBRSO received info that Keith Franklin Sr., 54, a fugitive wanted by Monroe Police, was inside an apartment located in the 3100 block of Paul’s Lane. The standoff started shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The WBRSO Special Response Team evacuated nearby residents and entered the apartment, but Franklin was not inside.

WBRSO said in addition to attempted second-degree murder, Franklin was wanted by Monroe police on counts of theft of a motor vehicle, aggravated flight from an officer, and simple criminal damage to property.
