Fugitive arrested two parishes over following a multi-agency pursuit

ASCENSION– A fugitive from St. John the Baptist Parish was arrested after allegedly hitting an Ascension deputy’s vehicle and fleeing.

Officials say Ascension Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested Anthony Manson, 28, and Manson was charged with aggravated flight from an officer, reckless operation, general speed law, two counts of red-light violation, and two counts of improper passing on right shoulder.

Authorities say APSO deputies received information from the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office regarding Manson, who was wanted on several charges. Deputies found Manson’s vehicle traveling on Airline Highway near Prairieville and attempted a traffic stop.

According to officials, Manson refused to stop, which started a pursuit. During the chase, Manson hit a deputy’s marked vehicle and tried to get away. Manson was apprehended in East Baton Rouge Parish after BRPD set up spike strips.

Manson was booked in the Ascension Parish Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
