DENHAM SPRINGS — A fundraiser is scheduled for Saturday to benefit a woman diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer.
The event on Oct. 21 will help Sharen Branton with her battle with Stage 3 Uterine Serous Carcinoma. It is scheduled from 11 a.m. until everything is sold out. The event will be held at the Denham Springs High School Stem and Robotics Center, 1129 South Range Avenue.
In August 2022, Branton received her diagnosis.
According to the National Institute of Health, Uterine serous adenocarcinoma (USC) is a rare and invasive cancer. The cancer is more often reported in the ovary, the fallopian tube, and the endometrium than in the uterine cervix.

Sharen, a mother of two, has been married to her husband, Jimmy, for 42 years. After exhausting all her paid time off at her job, she was let go after 22 years.
The Saturday event hopes to raise money to help offset some medical and travel expenses for Branton and her family. There will be $10 Jambalaya plates as well as a raffle. The raffle prizes include tickets to see the Baton Rouge Zydeco Hockey team and a pair of LSU football tickets.
There is a gofundme account set up for anyone who wants to donate money to the family. To donate, click here.
