LORANGER — Funeral arrangements have been set after a mother’s life was cut short on June 12, 2024 when an ex-boyfriend allegedly stabbed Callie Jo Brunett.
Brunett’s father found his daughter, 35, of Loranger, inside her own trailer on N. Cooper Rd. on Thursday morning on June 13, a whole day after she had been killed. Her autopsy revealed she had been stabbed multiple times. Her two daughter, Erin, 4, and Jalie, 6, had been kidnapped in her own car. The man accused of the kidnappings is Brunett’s ex-boyfriend Daniel Callihan. He’s also accused of killing 4-year-old Erin Brunett.
Both mother and daughter, Callie & Erin Brunett will be laid to rest on Thursday, June 20, 2024.
Visitation will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 N. Morrison Blvd, Hammond, Louisiana 70401 on Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Services will follow at 1:30 p.m., with Bro. Karl Klaus officiating.
“Callie Brunett graduated from Loranger High School and was a member of the Flag Team. She also attended Hammond Technical School for barbering and medical technology. Callie Jo loved being a country girl, going to Old Farmer’s Day, and being in Loranger. She was a loving daughter, sister, and aunt, but she loved being a mom most of all. Callie Jo and her daughters were a couple of peas in a pod. Her daughters looked up to her and loved her so much,” read her obituary.
