

A memorial has been set up outside the Department of Transportation & Development building in Baton Rouge in honor of DOTD MAP driver Darrell Guillory, 66.
Guillory responded to assist Ruben Ernesto Dorado, 31, of Miami, FL, on I-10 westbound nearby Hwy. 415 on Sunday, Nov. 20th.

Dorado turned on him instead and started stabbing Guillory repeatedly. Someone driving by called 911. When West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene, he saw Dorado still stabbing Guillory so he shot Dorado.
Both Guillory and Dorado died of their injuries.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 28, 2022 at a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Darrell Steve Guillory, age 66, who passed away Sunday, November 20, 2022 in Port Allen.
Interment will be in St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge. The Rev. Clint Trahan, pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Port Barre, will officiate at the services.
Guillory was a native of Port Barre, where he was a parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. His passion for law enforcement was evident by the years he devoted to multiple local law enforcement agencies. He graduated from the Baton Rouge Police Academy and retired from Baton Rouge City Police department after 30 years of service, where he was canine handler of Canine Officer Elka and Canine Officer Jada. He went on to serve at Brusly Police Department, St. Landry Parish Sheriff Department, Port Barre Police Department, Carencro Police Department and Youngsville Police Department. He had been employed with DOTD for the past five years. Guillory loved spending time outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, kayaking and camping with his family.
A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday and will continue from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Monday.
