Funeral services set for Maggie Dunn

Margaret “Maggie” Edline Dunn, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at the age of 17.

She was a native of Plaquemine and resident of Brusly. Maggie was a junior at Brusly High School. She was an honor student and cheerleader who served on many committees and was in many clubs. Maggie was a member of the A-Team, Student Council and Beta.

Maggie Dunn and Caroline Gill died after they were caught in a high-speed chase over a stolen vehicle from Baton Rouge and hit by Addis Officer David Cauthron on New Year’s Eve.

Cauthron is said to have been going nearly 90mph on La1 in West Baton Rouge Parish, with lights and sirens activated but never yielded at the red light where he’s said to have t-boned the car with Maggie, Caroline and Maggie’s older brother Liam Dunn in the back seat.

Liam remains hospitalized. It’s also why his family has been asking everyone to help restock the shelves of the blood he’s been using. Your donations will help not only Liam, but anyone who needs blood. Any donations in honor of Liam helps the Dunn/Martin family with their final bill.

She was a friend to all she met, a blessing to have as a daughter and as a sister. Maggie loved being a big sister. Maggie’s zest for life was unmatched. She never missed an opportunity to make a joke, danced like no one was watching, and laughed without hesitation.

Maggie’s smile could illuminate the darkest of rooms and her warmth was felt by all those lucky enough to cross her path.

The best way to honor Maggie in death is to live life abundantly and unapologetically.

Visitation will be at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plaquemine on Friday, January 13th, 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m., celebrated by Rev. Cleo Milano. Burial will follow in the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Mausoleum in Brusly.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your favorite charity. Please share memories at www.wilbertservices.com.
