Homeowner shoots, kills alleged intruder during Gonzales home invasion

GONZALES — A man is dead after reportedly being shot and killed by a homeowner during an alleged home invasion Sunday morning, Ascension Parish sheriff’s deputies say.

It happened at a home on Tiggy Duplessis Rd. around 6 a.m. Sunday. Deputies say the homeowner fired “several gunshots” at Kameron Serigny, 20, who attempted to break into the residence.

Serigny may have used an illegal substance shortly before the incident, investigators say. A toxicology report is pending.

The homeowner has not been charged. Deputies say the investigation is ongoing.
