GONZALES — An overnight shooting in the parking lot of a lounge on Highway 30 in Gonzales has left a 26-year-old dead. On Jan. 13th, the 23-year-old suspect was arrested in Jefferson Parish and has since been transported to the Ascension Parish jail.
It was around 1 a.m. on Jan. 12th when Gonzales Police officers responded to the Park Place Lounge at 2705 West Highway 30 for a shooting.
The investigation so far, with the help of video surveillance, reveals that the suspect and victim arrived at the location together. A verbal argument led up to the suspect shooting the 25-year-old victim twice in the chest.
The victim, 25-year-old John Anthony Wilson, is from the Gonzales area. He was rushed to a hospital but died of his injuries.
“This was a violent and tragic incident, and our detectives are working diligently to identify the individual responsible and bring this case to a swift resolution,” said Gonzales PD Chief Sherman Jackson.
Gonzales officers identified Breeze Michael Sincere, 23, as the suspect. He was found at a home in Jefferson Parish, according to GPD. He is now behind bars charged with one count of second-degree murder.
