Grab a fishing pole! It looks like rainbow trout season in Walker

WALKER, La. – If you’re ready for some adventure and you love to fish, you’re in luck!

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has stocked a pond in Sydney Hutchinson Park in Walker with hundreds of rainbow trout. The City of Walker Parks and Recreation made the announcement on their official Facebook page.

Wildlife and Fisheries stocked the pond on Wednesday. It is located inside Sydney Hutchinson Park near the entrance located at 30445 Corbin Avenue, Walker, LA 70785.

A fishing license is required for anyone over the age of 18. Only two poles are allowed per fisher and no casting nets. There is a limit of of five rainbow trout per person.

Sounds like a lot of fun if you’re willing to brave this cold weather for some outdoor adventure. The park is open daily from sunrise to sunset.

  1. This is probably the most stupid thing I’ve ever heard of. Rainbows aren’t a native species. They have no place here.
