A Livingston Parish grand jury indicted a Livingston Parish Sheriff’s deputy involved in a wreck that killed a Denham Springs woman in July.
The deputy, Cory Winburn, was indicted on careless operation. He will now be issued a traffic ticket for his involvement.
The crash happened on July 15 just before 1 a.m. when the deputy was responding to a call in a fully-marked Chevrolet Tahoe. The deputy was headed south in the left lane on LA 16 when he crashed into the rear end of a 2004 Saturn Ion.
Christinia Estave, 33, was killed in the crash after she was transported to a hospital.
State Police said Estave was not buckled at the time of the crash.
The deputy was also unrestrained at the time of the crash and sustained minor injuries.
