BATON ROUGE — The Greater Baton Rouge State Fair is back, and attendees can expect even more fun this year. The fair will run Thursday, Oct. 24 until Sunday, Nov. 3.
The fair is located at the Baton Rouge fairgrounds at: BREC’s Airline Hwy. Park/Fairgrounds at 16072 Airline Hwy. Baton Rouge.
The hours are 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. Monday thru Friday and from Noon – 10 p.m. both Saturdays and Sundays.
While tickets can be purchased online, entrants cannot get the “weekday specials” with online purchases. Weekday special deals can only be claimed at the gate.
Opening night special on Oct. 24 is $10 admission and $15 for unlimited rides wristband.

• The Dallas and Nick Show

Special Events:
LEGO Extravaganza: Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. for ages 7-13. Free entry, but pre-registration is recommended due to popularity.
Kiddie Pumpkin Painting Contest: Oct. 27 at 1:30 p.m. for ages 5-8. Judging begins at 3:45 p.m. with winners announced at 4 p.m. No entry fee. Must be present to win prizes.
Hot Dog Eating Contest: Nov. 3 at 1:30 p.m. for check in. Pre-registration is highly encouraged; only 10 participants. Registration form available on fair website & must be emailed to Living4life21@yahoo.com. Entrants must be at least 18 with a form of ID at the event.
Maracas Decorating Party: Nov. 3 from 2 – 4:30 p.m. for ages 5-12.
Entertainment will include La Luz d San Marcos de Baldemar y Raul, Anthony Ex La Makina, Natalie & Southern Accent, Adam Pearce, Ben Ragsdale Band, Cumberland County, David St. Romain, Kendall Shaffer, and the Louisiana Hall of Fame Band.
