Greensburg woman killed in fiery crash in St. Helena Parish

ST. HELENA — Tonya Bamber, a 54-year-old woman from Greensburg, died after a crash Tuesday afternoon in St. Helena Parish.

It was around 1:15 p.m. on June 11 when Louisiana State Police troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on LA 43 at Guy Road.

Tonya Bamber, 54 of Greensburg, died in the crash, according to State Police.

The preliminary investigation reveals that Bamber was driving a 2023 Hyundai Palisade north on LA 43 near Guy Road. For reasons still under investigation, troops say she ran off the right side of the roadway and hit a tree before the vehicle went up in flames.

Bamber died on scene. It’s unclear at this time if she was buckled or not and officials say impairment is unknown. A routine toxicology sample was collected and submitted for analysis.

No further details were provided by the Louisiana State Police. The crash remains under investigation.
