“This is our ninth year to do this walk. First year I did it was in 2016. And I told these guys, I felt like the Lord was pushing me to do something a little bit different to remind people what Memorial Day was truly about.” said Gary Bartels, a former Army captain who served as an infantry officer in a 101st airborne division.

The group participated in a ruck march, and talked about each veteran who died while in service.

“A Ruck March is very symbolic in the military. I say all the time, I’m 100% certain that the term blood sweat and tears came from a ruck march somewhere down the line. Because you will experience all three if you go on long ruck marches. And so for us, when we do this, it’s as close as we can be, to this 126 that we’re honoring in this event.” Royce Carnley, a former army specialist, said.

On Saturday, May 11th, Oath Inc will be hosting its 2nd annual Bayou Bash, an event to honor veterans and raise money to support families. All are welcome to attend in honor of those who have served our country and made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Bayou Bash will be held at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center. Gates open at 11:00 a.m.

The event will include a silent and live auction and a kid’s fishing rodeo.

According to its website, OATH is a faith based Nonprofit Organization that utilizes various outdoors activities centered around Faith, Family, and Community to improve the quality of life of our eligible Heroes.
