HAMMOND — Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Hammond man who’s accused of using an online sales scheme to lure a woman he allegedly planned to rob.
Jericho Offlee, 28, was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on one count of first-degree robbery.

According to TPSO, a Baton Rouge-area woman reported that she had connected with man on social media to buy a used vehicle. She told deputies that she had picked up the man at a Hammond address before he directed her to Dead End Road, also in Hammond.
Once they got there, the man allegedly tried to steal her car and other belongings, but she was able to escape.
Although she did not know his identity, the woman described him as a black male wearing a reflective vest and beanie cap, with two gold canine teeth. Investigators soon found surveillance pictures of the suspect and identified him as Offlee with assistance from Hammond Police.
TPSO says this is not Offlee’s only victim. TPSO added they believe other victim haven’t come forward yet fearing retaliation from Offlee or the legal system. But TPSO is asking anyone, especially women from the Baton Rouge area, who have experienced a similar encounter in the past few weeks to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at (985) 902-2088 to file an official report.
