AMITE —- A 35-year-old woman from Hammond died in a crash Tuesday night in Tangipahoa Parish.
It was around 10:20 p.m. on December 16 when Louisiana State Police Troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 16 near Dykes Lane.
Jalisa S. Alexander, 35, of Hammond, died in the crash.
The initial investigation shows Alexander was driving a 2022 Chevrolet Malibu east on Highway 16. At the same time, a 2012 Kia Sorento was westbound on Highway 16. For reasons still under investigation, the Kia crossed the center line and struck the Chevrolet head-on.
Alexander, who was buckled, died on the scene. Alexander’s passenger was also buckled and was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the Kia, also buckled, had serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Routine toxicology samples were collected from both drivers. This crash remains under investigation.
