ST. GABRIEL – The St. Gabriel community is mourning the loss of Officer Darius Faveroth, a dedicated police officer, military veteran, and beloved friend, whose unexpected passing has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of many.
From childhood, Officer Faveroth dreamed of wearing a badge, a vision that he carried with him throughout his life. His mother, Deborah Green, recalls his early fascination with law enforcement, describing how he would playfully “arrest” people with imaginary handcuffs.
“He always did want to be a police officer,” Green shared. “He used to run around all the time, handcuffing people. We used to joke about it. He was always having fun, always cracking jokes.”
That same vibrant spirit carried into his career, where he quickly became known for his humor, kindness, and unwavering commitment to his duty. Officer Faveroth’s bond with his partner, Stacy, was more than professional—it was a lifelong friendship built on trust and mutual respect.
Tragically, Officer Faveroth was found unresponsive at home on March 23, 2025 and later pronounced dead despite CPR attempts. His mother, while grieving, holds onto her faith and trusts in God’s plan.
“I can’t question God’s decisions,” she said. “I wish I could have him back because that’s my baby. But I have to accept what God did. I know it’s going to be hard, but by the grace of God, I will get through it.”
Beyond his badge, Officer Faveroth was a proud husband and father. His daughter, Nyla Rose, had just started talking, and her first word was “daddy.” His mother remembers how much joy she brought him and how deeply he loved her.
He had been preparing for deployment, set to serve a year away from home. His family had braced for his temporary absence, but they never imagined he would be gone forever.
“We knew he was leaving for a year,” Green reflected. “But we thought he would come back, that we’d see him again, that he’d be back to enjoy life.”
The St. Gabriel Police Department issued a heartfelt statement, honoring Officer Faveroth’s service and dedication to both his community and his country.
“Officer Faveroth exemplified courage and commitment,” the statement read. “His dedication and sacrifice will never be forgotten. He had an extraordinary ability to uplift those around him, his laughter and positivity brightening even the darkest moments.”
Chief Kevin Ambeau echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the officer’s impact on the department and the city.
“Officer Faveroth was more than an exemplary officer—he was a beacon of positivity and kindness,” Chief Ambeau said. “His legacy of service and the joy he brought to others will forever remain in our hearts.”
As the community comes together to mourn, Officer Faveroth’s memory will live on in the laughter he shared, the lives he touched, and the dedication he showed every day in uniform. His family, friends, and fellow officers will forever remember him as a man who served with honor and lived with love.
