“Heinous crime” leaves mother & daughter dead

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Hammond mother and daughter’s shooting deaths.

The two were found inside a home early Saturday morning.

It was after 2:30am when deputies responded to a 911 call for someone shot at a home on Stephenson Ln. in Hammond.

When deputies arrived, they found the Hammond mother and daughter, Brandy Smith, 37, and her daughter Raven Smith, 17, both with gunshot wounds.

Brandy had fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene. Raven was transported to North Oaks Medical Center where she also died of her injuries.

The motive is under investigation at this time.
