Two killed in Holden wreck, driver and a woman ejected from vehicle

HOLDEN — Three people were ejected from the car and two people died after a wreck in Livingston Parish.

It happened on July 18, just before 8:00 p.m. on LA 441 north of Interstate 12 in Livingston Parish.

Louisiana State Police Troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash that killed James Ard, 22, of Holden.

After being transported to a hospital for severe injuries, Angela “Angie” Ziegler, 40, died from her injuries Thursday.

The initial investigation revealed that a 2013 Volkswagen Beetle was headed north on LA 441. For reasons still under investigation, the driver of the Beetle went off the roadway and hit a tree.

The impact caused all occupants to be ejected from the vehicle.

James Ard, 22, of Holden died from his injuries. Troopers said he was not buckled at the time of the crash.

The two other unrestrained occupants were transported to local hospitals, having sustained severe injuries in the crash.

Troopers said at this time, they do not know which occupant was the driver.

A toxicology sample was taken from Ard and will be submitted for chemical analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
