Home destroyed, resident hospitalized following early-morning fire

Firefighters battle blaze on Brady Street Friday morning

BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge firefighters battled an early-morning blaze that sent one resident to the hospital Friday.

Fire officials say the call came in at 5:32 a.m. The first unit arrived four minutes later at a home on Brady Street.

When firefighters arrived, the home was fully engulfed, and two occupants were outside. Officials say one of the occupants was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The home is considered a total loss, but firefighters contained the flames from reaching nearby homes. A fire investigator determined an electrical malfunction caused the fire.

The Red Cross assisted with the three displaced residents.
