Homeowner shoots, kills intruder Monday night

BATON ROUGE — A man allegedly attempting to break into a home was shot and killed by the homeowner, according to police.

Baton Rouge Police officers responded to Ontario St. just before 10pm for a shooting. That’s off of Plank Rd.

Police say the homeowner called and said he had just shot an intruder who was trying to come in through the front door.

Lawrence Bajoie, Jr., 37, was rushed to a hospital after he was shot with a rifle, but died during surgery.

Coroner Dr. Beau Clark’s office said his cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds and the manner of death was a homicide.

No further details have been released at this time.

Since it appears to be a self-defense case, the homeowner may not face any charges, but BRPD’s investigation is ongoing at this time.
