Hwy. 415 shut down after 18-wheeler overturns

UPDATE: Hwy. 415 is back open

UPDATE: As of 8am, Sept. 16th, Hwy. 415 remains shut down.

The 18-wheeler remains on its side and the product must be offloaded.

Officials say the wreck happened after a vehicle with five teens pulled out directly in front of the big rig. The driver did everything to avoid hitting them and ended up on his side.

The driver of the big rig suffered moderate injuries, but not life-threatening. The other vehicle was not damaged and no other injuries reported.

ORIGINAL: The West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office and State Police are responding to an overturned 18 wheeler on Highway 415.

The wreck is on Hwy. 415 north of Rosedale Rd. in Port Allen.

Sources say the truck is carrying oil. State Police’s Hazmat team is en route to the scene.

There’s no word yet if the truck is leaking or if there are any injuries at this time.

Hwy. 415 is shut down for now.
