UPDATE —- Interstate 10 has now reopened.
ST. MARTIN —- Drivers on Interstate 10 or anyone with plans to travel westbound will have to find an alternate route of travel after a multi-vehicle crash shut down I-10 westbound for several miles.
The crash itself happened on I-10 westbound in St. Martin Parish at milepost 120 on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge, just before the Butte La Rose exit.
It involves multiple 18-wheelers and at least one vehicle. It’s unclear at this time if there are any injuries. State Police said a total of four vehicles are involved in the crash.
State Police is working the crash.
In order to keep drivers from getting trapped on the interstate, traffic is being diverted at Hwy. 415 to 190 in West Baton Rouge Parish. All entrance ramps onto I-10 westbound are shut down at this time.
