I-12 westbound shut down at Drusilla after deadly crash

I-12 westbound is closed at Drusilla Ln. after a deadly accident just before the I-10/12 split.

Traffic is currently slow going and backed up from Drusilla to past Airline Highway.

The accident happened around 8:05 p.m. Sunday. The crash involves an 18 wheeler and a car. A truck is also in the ditch, but it is unclear how that truck may have played a part in the crash.

The person in the car was killed in the crash. They have not yet been identified.

Investigators believe the 18 wheeler was parked on the side of the interstate when the driver of the car hit the semi. Sources say the driver was going at least 80mph. The impact of the crash pushed the semi some 50 yards.
