ST. GABRIEL — A 19-year-old man is behind bars accused of having a sexual relationship with a girl under the age of 13.
It was Thursday morning, Oct. 2nd, when a St. Gabriel Police officer came upon a man and girl near Hwy. 75 and Monticello Dr. UWK has learned the man’s behavior was very suspicious. Upon investigation, officers learned Rashawn A. Briggs, 19, of Baton Rouge, had allegedly had sex with the girl.
Briggs was arrested immediately. Since then, officers learned that was not the first time the two had allegedly had sex. Due to the girl being under the age of 13 and not able to consent, Briggs is now charged with two counts of first-degree rape, contributing to the delinquency of juveniles, computer-aided solicitation of juveniles, pornography involving juveniles and sexual battery.
Additional charges could be pending as the investigation is ongoing. No further details have been released because the case involves a juvenile.
