The Plaquemine Police Dept. & Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal wreck on Belleview Dr. (Hwy. 75) in Plaquemine around 8pm on April 8, 2022.
The wreck involved two vehicles. One person had to be extricated out of a vehicle and died according to officials on the scene and another person survived the crash but is in serious condition.
Names of the victims have now been released. Kyle Hooper, 36, of Maurice, La, died in the crash. He was in a red 1999 Dodge Dakota. John Theriot, 67, of Plaquemine, was in a 2016 Toyota Tundra. He is now listed in stable condition at an area hospital.
The crash was near the Tractor Supply & Rouses on Belleview Dr. within the city limits of Plaquemine.
The preliminary investigation reveals Hooper was headed west on Hwy. 75 at a high speed according to what witnesses told officers. Theriot pulled out in front of him and Hooper hit Theriot’s truck. Hooper had to be extricated out of his vehicle.
