11 a.m. Update: As of 11 a.m. Friday, the shelter in place for Plaquemine High School has been lifted.
However, the parish still has a shelter in place in effect for the Pecan Meadow area.
Part of Hwy 75 remains closed to traffic.
PLAQUEMINE — There is a temporary shelter in place for areas near Plaquemine High School and Pecan Meadow, according to the Iberville Office of Emergency Preparedness. The office was notified of a pipeline leak on Hwy 75 (Belleview Road) in Plaquemine Friday morning.
The valve has been shut off, but out of an abundance of caution, a temporary shelter in place for the area has been ordered. The rest of the product in the line will be flared, and Exxon Mobil is at the scene.
