IBERVILLE — The Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office has re-arrested inmate who escaped on July 4th.
Sheriff Brett Stassi says Timothy Billiot, 55, is in custody more than 24 hours after he left the jail at 5:30 a.m. on July 4th, which is his regular time to leave for his assigned trustee job at the jail.

On Tuesday however, instead of going to do laundry and clean the cars, Sheriff Stassi said he took a police truck and drove out of the Iberville Parish jail lot.
“He had a plan that we weren’t aware of for July 4th,” said Sheriff Stassi. “He took a 2014 unmarked, gray Dodge Ram Truck that was a decommissioned police car not currently in use and set to a side to sell at an auction. He somehow got the key to it. He drove out the jail lot behind workers who were getting off around that time.”
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s office and the Morgan City Police Department assisted Iberville Parish with re-arresting Billiot, Sheriff Stassi said.

Billiot is a Department. of Corrections inmate who was sentenced to serve five years on 15 counts of child pornography. He’s been at the Iberville Parish jail over three years.
