An investigation is underway at the jail in Ascension Parish after four inmates allegedly “teamed up” against another inmate.
It happened Tuesday night, June 7th, at the jail in Donaldsonville.
Ascension Parish Sheriff Bobby Webre said their initial review shows inmate Morris Lemar Miles, 29, of Prairieville, had been allegedly threatening other inmates for a while with toenail clippers for their commissaries.

The group of four inmates “had enough” and on Tuesday night, Sheriff Webre said the inmates took hot water from the shower and poured it on Miles’ back. While they were trying to take his toenail clippers away to keep him from further threatening other inmates, Miles was cut on his hand.
He was taken to an area hospital for his injuries but Sheriff Webre said he was released fairly quickly without any burns from the hot water and he had a very minor cut.
Miles has now been placed in lockdown and isolated from the others. Miles has several charges he is in for including second degree murder and attempt second degree murder from 2019. Miles is also one of the two inmates who tried to escape the Donaldsonville jail in April 2022, but was captured immediately.
