Interstate 10 now open after big rig crash caused shut down this morning

BATON ROUGE — All lanes on Interstate 10 are now open in both directions as of 1:40 p.m. Wednesday. The interstate was shut down after a crash involving an 18-wheeler. The 18-wheeler was overturned and blocking much of the roadway on I-1 eastbound at Dalrymple.

The truck and debris are now cleared from the road this afternoon. Earlier this morning, around 10:30 a.m., the truck was upright with closures still in effect.

The crash happened early Wednesday morning on Sept. 9 on I-10 westbound at the Dalrymple exit with the big rig overturning. The truck went over the median, blocking all three lanes westbound and two lane in the eastbound direction.

Traffic was being diverted off of westbound to Dalrymple to Lori Burgess, where drivers can get back on the interstate. Multiple exits off I-10 westbound are shut down at this time.

Injuries are unknown at this time.

All lanes of traffic are now open and moving this afternoon.
