Decomposing body found in Baton Rouge identified as 32-year-old man

BATON ROUGE — Officials have now identified the second decomposing body found in a home in Baton Rouge over the weekend.

Collin Johnson, 32, died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds with the cause of death being ruled a homicide, according to the East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office.

Baton Rouge Police officers responded to a home in the 2900 block of Voss. Dr. just before 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, and found a decomposing body, UWK learned. That’s off of Winbourne Ave. near N. Foster Dr.

Inside the home, UWK learned that Johnson’s decomposing body was found on the floor.

An autopsy determined the cause of death being a homicide and manner of death being several gunshot wounds.

This is the second decomposing body found in Baton Rouge since May 12. In that case, a 37-year-old woman’s body, Bridget Boutwell, was found. Further testing and analysis from the East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office is pending to determine the exact cause of death in her case. BRPD has not released any details surrounding Boutwell’s case, but a search is underway for the man believed to be her boyfriend, Joseph Solar.

Anyone with information on Solar’s whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 344-STOP, or anyone with information on the decomposing body found on Voss Dr. in Baton Rouge is also asked to help officials.
