HAMMOND — Bronze Williams, the suspect in an August shooting on I-12, has been arrested, according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Williams, 35, is accused of shooting a man around 4 a.m. on August 30 while driving westbound on I-12 near the Pumpkin Center exit. The victim reported hearing three gunshots, followed by the shattering of the sliding glass rear windshield of his pickup truck. Shortly after, he felt numbness in his right leg. He told deputies he saw a vehicle exit at Pumpkin Center as he pulled into a gas station in Livingston Parish to call for help.
The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and was released from the hospital later that same day.
A tip led TPSO to Williams, who is on parole for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, theft, and simple burglary. He was taken into custody by Louisiana Department of Probation and Parole officers on Friday, Sept. 20.
When questioned about the shooting, Williams allegedly suggested that road rage might have been a motive. He is currently being held in the Orleans Parish jail on unrelated charges.
This incident on I-12 is the latest in a series of shootings on area interstates. Since August 17, there have been three interstate shootings in the Baton Rouge area.

In March, a Southern University student, Jayrick Washington, was killed while driving on I-110. His mother says he was on his way to work when someone shot into his vehicle. The gunshot wounds caused Washington to veer off the road and crash into a tree. He died at the scene. His death was ruled a homicide due to multiple gunshot wounds and blunt force injuries from the crash.
