BATON ROUGE — An investigation is underway after a pedestrian was struck and killed on I-10 near Essen Ln. early Friday morning.
The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on I-10, just before the Essen exit and near the I-12 flyover ramp. EMS confirmed that the coroner was called to the scene.
Police and crime scene investigators have blocked several lanes of traffic as part of their investigation, including the flyover from I-12 westbound to I-10 eastbound. Some of the lanes started reopening just before 7 a.m., but traffic remains congested.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
