Jail food service employee arrested for smuggling contraband

NAPOLEONVILLE , La: A woman who worked for the food service provider for the Assumption Parish Detention Center was arrested for allegedly smuggling contraband into the jail.

On Dec. 21, Brittany McBride Dandridge, 34, was arrested on felony charges of introducing contraband into the parish detention center. The warden began an investigation after correctional officers intercepted cellphones and other prohibited items for a two-month period.

The Warden secured multiple search warrants and was able to identify Dandridge as a suspect.

The deputies believe she was receiving payment for smuggling illegal contraband into the jail.

With the evidence they found during the investigation, deputies arrested Dandridge with numerous felony charges.

She was arrested on four counts of “taking contraband to/from a penal institution.”

She remains incarcerated awaiting her bond hearing.
