LOS ANGELES – Louisiana’s own John Foster has officially made it into the Top 7 on American Idol, continuing a dream season for the Addis teen who’s captured the hearts of fans nationwide.
Monday night, Foster sang George Strait’s “I Cross my Heart.” He now proceeds to Disney Night next week!
Sunday night was dedicated to iconic women. The 18-year-old kicked off Sunday night’s live episode with a soulful and upbeat rendition of Bonnie Raitt’s “Let’s Give Them Something to Talk About.” Dressed in his signature cowboy hat and flashing that now-famous smile, Foster set the tone for the night with pure charm and vocal power.
The judges raved about the performance — and especially Foster’s magnetic stage presence.
“Your charisma meter is like peaking off the charts right now,” Luke Bryan noted. Carrie Underwood pointed out how much Foster has grown this season saying he is more comfortable every week.
With voting open during the live broadcast, viewers across the country cast their ballots — and when the results were revealed at the end of the show, Foster was named one of the Top 8 finalists.
Foster has continued to wow both the judges and America with his heartfelt performances, including his emotional original “Tell That Angel I Love Her,” dedicated to his late best friend Maggie Dunn. “That was such a great song choice,” Carrie Underwood praised. “You were having fun with it, you made it your own, and I feel like I was watching a young Dwight Yoakam up there.” Foster replied that he heard that a lot.

Had she not asked him to sing a second song the first time, he said he may not be here today. During his performance, he walked up close to the judges and tipped his hat to Underwood.
