Joint memorial service to honor fallen BRPD officers

BATON ROUGE, La. — A joint memorial service and funeral will be held next week to honor two fallen Baton Rouge Police officers.

Cpl. Scotty Canezaro & Sgt. David Poirrier were killed when the BRPD helicopter they were flying crashed in a cane field in West Baton Rouge Parish on March 26, 2023 at 2:38am.

On April 6, visitation will be held from 9am-11am at Istrouma Baptist Church at 10500 Sam Rushing Rd. in Baton Rouge.

A joint memorial service will follow at 11am on April 6 and it will be open to the public.

Outside the church will be the 21-gun salute to honor the men and their sacrifices.
