Juban Road widening project slated for 2025 completion, DOTD says

DENHAM SPRINGS — Traffic near the intersection of Juban Road and US 190 is backed up around the same time every day.

The plans to widen Juban Road to a four-lane Roadway from U.S. 190 to Castle Road and build a two-lane roundabout at the Juban and 190 intersection hit a few snags in the last couple of years. That only added to the traffic nightmare.

The project was supposed to be completed in 2021, but Louisiana’s Department of Transportation and Development officials (DOTD) say utility relocations pushed the completion date back.

As of late August 2023, DOTD provided an update. Traffic has been temporarily shifted to the box culvert at Dixon Creek between Juban and Eden Church Road so construction can continue on the remaining portions of the new culvert.

In late 2022, DOTD combined the road widening and U.S. 190 roundabout project into one project, estimated to save roughly one year of construction time.

Officials say the majority of utility relocation is completed. The project’s estimated completion is now expected for early to mid-2025, weather permitting, and equipment availability.
