IBERVILLE —- An Iberville Parish jury found former deputy Shaderick Jones, 47, guilty of multiple charges in connection to a one-year-old’s rape.
Jones was fired from the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Evidence and testimony presented in the three-day trial proved that he coerced a woman, Iyehesa Todd, to perform oral sex on a one-year-old in June of 2019.
Todd testified that Jones was aware of an outstanding bench warrant for her. He told her that he would not bring her to jail on the warrant if she fulfilled his fantasy of seeing her performing oral sex on the child. She further testified that he made her record the incident and send it to him. He then told her if she told anyone that he would show the video of her performing the act to law enforcement, who would believe him because he is a cop.
The live-in girlfriend of Shaderick Jones at the time of the incident saw the video on one of his electronic devices and had a mutual friend turn it over to law enforcement.
Both defendants were arrested.
After his arrest, several of his electronic devices were found in his home in Port Allen, with numerous electronic images of child pornography.
He was convicted in October 2022 by a West Baton Rouge Parish jury, of 24 counts of pornography involving juveniles and 55 counts of sexual abuse of animals. He was sentenced at that time to over 100 years for possession of pornography.
It was learned after Jones’ arrest for the charges in Iberville that Jones got rid of his cell phone that he was actively using by throwing it into the river. It’s why the video that Todd said she sent of the incident was not recovered from Todd’s phone.
Todd further testified that when she was being taken to the St. Gabriel Police Dept. in June of 2019, she called Jones to warn him she was being arrested, which is when Jones got rid of the evidence.
Todd testified very emotionally to the coercion she underwent at the hands of Jones, who was an armed deputy, in uniform and in his police unit. She testified that she would never have done this horrible act were it not for the actions of Jones. Todd, who pled guilty in August 2024 to attempted first degree rape, aggravated crime against nature and pornography involving juveniles, is currently serving a 14-year sentence for her involvement in the act.
Jones was found guilty of principal to first-degree rape, conspiracy to commit aggravated crime against nature, obstruction of justice, malfeasance in office and pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13.
Sentencing has been set for November 7.
“I thank the jury, which had to sit through hearing and seeing the disgusting testimony and evidence of this case to reach its verdict,” said District Attorney Tony Clayton.
“I commend the St. Gabriel Police Department on the investigation that got this pedophile off the streets. The Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office, FBI and Attorney General’s Office also provided important assistance in helping us develop this case. These are gut-wrenching cases to investigate and prosecute, but we have made sure he spends the rest of his life in prison.”
