Juvenile arrested after shooting father

BATON ROUGE, La. — Baton Rouge Police officers have arrested the 12-year-old boy accused of shooting his father Monday.

The shooting happened around 3pm on March 6 at the Warwick Apartment Complex in the 8000 block of Jefferson Hwy. A 37-yr-old father told officers his 12-yr-old son shot him in the side when he walked into the apartment.

The father told officers his son was still inside the apartment with the gun. That’s why officers set up a perimeter. Officers later learned though that the 12-yr-old slipped out before police arrived to the scene.

The father had a non-life threatening injury.

The 12-year-old was booked into East Baton Rouge Juvenile Detention for attempted second-degree murder and illegal sse of a weapon.
