BATON ROUGE, La. — It was a scene with dozens of police cars that spanned multiple streets involving a stolen vehicle, three potential suspects, a shooting and a K-9 unit catching an 18-yr-old accused of shooting at an officer.
Baton Rouge Police officers responded to a stolen vehicle that led officers on a pursuit around 11 p.m. on Saturday, March 23. The pursuit ended around Odell & N. 43rd streets.
BRPD says three people fled out of a vehicle on foot.
One of the suspects, Eric Brown, 29, was immediately caught.
BRPD said in a statement, “A second suspect, while fleeing from a uniformed officer on foot, fired a gunshot in the officer’s direction. The projectile missed the officer and entered a home, striking a nearby resident in the lower extremity.”
That suspect, Mikel Moore, 18, was later apprehended by a K9 officer.
The third fleeing suspect remains at large.
Moore was arrested and charged with eight counts of attempted first degree murder and resisting an officer.
Brown was issued a misdemeanor summons and released.
The shooting victim was transported to a hospital with an injury to the leg, a non-life threatening injury.
