Love the Boot week ends Sunday and Keep Tiger Town Beautiful (KTTB) is looking to close the week out with a bang.
As of Friday morning, the volunteer organization had collected over 300 contracted bags of litter. According to Jennifer Richardson with Keep Tiger Town Beautiful, contractor bags are much bigger and hold more waste than regular garbage bags.

Love the Boot Week is Louisiana’s largest statewide litter removal and beautification effort. Last year, 8,476 volunteers removed 293 tons of litter at 280 events in 54 parishes.
Richardson said the organization will meet with several local agencies to hold a cleanup event in Tigerland on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. She said the joint effort would include law enforcement, the United Cajun Navy, fraternities, sororities, and a local bar among others.
“We’re going to try to clean up Tigerland, which is a big deal because it’s a job nobody wants to do,” she said. “Tiger Land has been neglected for a very long time.
In the last 27.5 months, Richardson said KTTB has picked up over 9,200 contractor bags and that’s just the beginning of it.
“We’ve picked up hundreds of tires,” she said. “We’ve picked up thousands and thousands of drug needles. We’ve picked up hundreds of grocery carts off the streets of Baton Rouge. We’ve picked up porn. We’ve picked up at homeless camps. There’s nothing that we won’t do to clean up our city.”
Richardson said volunteers are encouraged to attend the Saturday cleanup and refreshments will be provided.
