AMITE – State police responded to a single-vehicle crash in Amite that killed 21-year-old Keith Harrison.
The investigation revealed Harrison was driving a Dodge pickup south on LA 1061 near Hayden Road. For reasons still under investigation, Harrison’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the road and hit a tree.
State police say Harrison was not restrained and died at the scene. Impairment is unknown, and routine toxicology results are pending.
“Buckling up is the most effective way to protect yourself while driving or riding in a vehicle,” state police says in a news release. “It can reduce the risk of serious injury or death in the event of a crash, and it takes only seconds to do. Always remember to buckle up before starting your journey, no matter how short the trip may be.”
