Livingston investigating decomposing body found

SPRINGFIELD —- The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a body that was found on Monday.

LPSO deputies responded to Bell E Rd., off of McCarroll Rd. that’s off of Hwy. 43 in Springfield on Oct. 16.

Deputies were called after a homeowner found a decomposing body close to their residence in the wood line and called officials.

LPSO says the body is believed to be male, but given how badly decomposed the body is, the Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office & LSU Faces Lab will be working on identifying a cause of death.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call LPSO at 225-686-2241 x1 or Capital Region Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-STOP (7867).
