LIVINGSTON PARISH — A Livingston Parish man now awaits sentencing after an overnight shootout in January 2025 with Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Deputies off Eden Church Road.
A jury found Faron Dillon, 40, guilty of five counts of attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer and possession of a firearm. He was found not guilty on the aggravated damage to property charge. The verdict came down on May 7, 2026 after a three-day trial in a Livingston Parish courtroom with Assistant District Attorneys Amanda Liotto & Serena Birch. Liotto was the lead prosecutor on the case with Birch as her co-counsel. The two presented 14 witnesses for the trial.
Lafayette Police Department officers reached out to Livingston Parish Sheriff’s deputies to help track down Dillon, after he was wanted on home invasion and aggravated assault with a firearm charges in Lafayette in January 2025.
LPSO deputies were able to confirm that Dillon was living inside a home off Eden Church Road. That’s when they tried to arrest Dillon on the wanted charges just before midnight on January 2nd.
After Dillon refused to surrender, Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office’s Special Response Team was called in, at which point there was a shootout with Dillon starting to shoot at deputies.
No deputies were injured in the exchange.
In addition to charges from LPSO, Dillon was also facing charges from the Lafayette Police Department.
