LIVINGSTON — It was early Good Friday morning when Louisiana State Police Troopers responded to a deadly wreck on Interstate 12 near LA 441 in Livingston Parish.
The three vehicle crash killed Maegan Breaux, 25, of Des Allemands.
The preliminary investigation shows Breaux was driving a 2021 Toyota Camry headed east on Interstate 12. For unknown reasons, Breaux exited the roadway to the left and hit a cable barrier before she got back on the roadway, according to troopers. She then came to a rest at the centerline. At the same time, an 2007 Kenworth 18-wheeler was in the right lane of travel headed east and a 2021 Freightliner 18-Wheeler was in the left lane driving behind the Kenworth.
For reasons still under investigation, Breaux started to get out of her car at which time, the driver of the first 18-wheeler swerved to the left and hit the back of the Camry & Breaux.
The other 18-wheeler’s driver was also forced off the interstate and into the median.
Breaux died on the scene. Both drivers of the 18-wheelers were properly buckled and were not injured.
As part of the ongoing investigation, a toxicology sample was taken from all drivers and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
