LIVINGSTON PARISH — A head-on crash Sunday evening left one person dead and two others injured.
The crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 22, in the 11700 block of Springfield Rd., also known as Hwy. 1019, near Perkins Rd. The collision involved four individuals in total.
According to Louisiana State Police, Noah Sanders, 20, of Denham Springs, was driving a 2017 Cadillac ATS eastbound on LA 1019, while a 1996 Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling westbound on the same road. Police say Sanders’ Cadillac crossed the centerline into the westbound lane, colliding head-on with the Chevrolet.
Sanders was pronounced dead at the scene. Both the driver and passenger of the Chevrolet, who were not wearing seat belts, sustained severe injuries and were airlifted to a hospital in Baton Rouge. One of them is in critical condition. The fourth individual, a passenger in Sanders’ vehicle, was properly restrained and is in the hospital with moderate injuries.
Louisiana State Police are investigating the crash. Sanders was wearing a seatbelt at the time, and impairment is not suspected, although routine toxicology samples have been collected for analysis.
